GasLight Prerelease

Just in time for your non-denominational winter celebration of choice, here’s another GasLight release.

It’s untested by anyone but me, so if you’re not comfortable with beta software, leave now.

Still here? Here’s the major changes:

  • Threaded rendering. This moves the rendering code into a separate thread from the standard iTunes one, giving me more control over the rendering. This should give a performance boost on dual processor machines, and you can now specify how much CPU you want GasLight to use.
  • Import / Export presets for sharing with your friends. Check out the ‘Manage Presets’ section in the Config Window.
  • Support for older cards (eg Rage 128). It’ll be horribly ugly, but at least it won’t crash if you enable GasLight on one…

The preset storage format was changed : GasLight should automatically upgrade them for you. However, if you want to be able to go back to an older GasLight version, make a backup of your iTunes plist.

I’m particularly interested in confirming any or all of the above functionality. Let me know how it goes.
